Shahi Dayekh is a contemporary abstract expressionist artist based in Dubai, working primarily with oil and mixed media mediums. Influenced strongly by culture and having lived across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the United States, her practice is devoted to expressing the things that unite us most: emotion, identity, struggle, and belonging.
Her canvases move the way feelings move, through a series of bold, layered gestures that build into multidimensional paintings, and convey a certain expression. Within these compositions lives the inner worlds we all carry but rarely identify or name: the lost, the searching, the conflicted, and beyond. Each painting creates a space where resonance and reflection can take place simultaneously; revealing the quiet, invisible threads that tie us to one another. Drawing from the natural world, cosmology, mythology, the collective unconscious, and metaphysics, her work drifts easily between the intimate and the infinite realms. Colour coveys emotion, movement reflects memories, and form becomes a way of expressing what words cannot always describe.
Grounded in emotional rawness, every piece works as a kind of mirror; inviting viewers to find their own stories within the canvas. To stand before Shahi's work is to be asked, gently, to pause: to feel, and to reconnect with the self, with others, and with the wider unity of things.

Shahi Dayekh’s practice is grounded in a lifelong curiosity about the human emotional experience. Working primarily with oil paint and mixed media mediums, Shahi builds layered compositions through color, movement, texture, and form; allowing each painting to evolve organically on the canvas. Her works explore the visible and invisible dimensions of life; representing things like self-identity, memory, feeling, belonging, and transformation through universal embodiments. Representations of nature, cosmology, metaphysics, and the collective unconscious, enable her to move between the human experience and the universal; creating a space where feeling is depicted beyond words. Shahi’s background in Peace and International Affairs, and her engagements with humanitarian work have also influenced her understanding of human complexities and connection. Yet, it is through art that she finds a different language — one that does not require explanation, but invites feeling. Every painting becomes a journey of discovery; both for the artist and the viewer. Layers are built, altered, revealed, and sometimes erased, mirroring the way experiences accumulate within us and shape the person we become.
